A 'smart bomb' was found in the Belgorod region, which the enemies lost from an aircraft. This is reported by Astra.
On January 23, a UMPB-250 (unified multipurpose planning ammunition) was discovered in the village of Velyki Kulbaky.
"The bomb, or guided projectile, is equipped with control, several antennas, and a turbojet power plant. The warhead resembles the standard FAB-250 air bomb. The UMpb was created as a 'smart' and 'loitering' munition without additional installed UMPK modules. All electronics are located under the nose fairing, allowing this shell-bomb to be used at long ranges. Mechanisms on upgraded FABs are located on top, which increases air resistance and reduces range" - this is how the bomb was described in the Kremlin earlier.
By 2024, at least 165 cases of FAB air bombs falling in Russia and on the occupied territories of Ukraine are already known, as well as one UMPB-250 in 2025.
Earlier, British intelligence reported that emergency descents of munitions from Russian aircraft over their own territory is a serious problem that poses a threat to the civilian population of Russia.
The lost FAB-500 over the Belgorod region in May 2024 led to damage to 30 houses, 10 cars, and five injuries.
