"Naftogaz" sold gas at underestimated prices while importing an expensive resource."

Economist and financial analyst Oleksiy Kush reported this during a telethon.

The situation with gas in Ukraine is complex for two main reasons. First, gas prices in Europe have risen sharply. Second, the actions of the company 'Naftogaz' raise questions. Experts believe that the state monopolist has instead of strategic resource accumulation engaged in commercial sales, which led to problems with gas supplies.

Kush noted that in the summer gas could be purchased for about 300 dollars on the European market, but now the price has risen to 600 dollars, almost by 100%.

He also noted that although 'Naftogaz' supplies the population and enterprises of Teplokomunenergo with gas under a special pricing regime, last year the company began to enter the commercial market more actively.

"But for some reason 'Naftogaz' actively entered the commercial market last year, began selling natural gas to enterprises, private companies, that is, engaged in commerce, and often sold this gas at a price lower than the imported resource," said the economist.

Member of Parliament of Ukraine, First Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing and Utilities Oleksiy Kucherенко questioned the entire gas market system in Ukraine.

"A black box which everyone is trying to figure out. What is the market? We definitely do not have a gas market," he said.

According to Kucherенко, 'Naftogaz', despite its commercial operations, currently requires significant funding from the state budget.

Recall that Popenko announced a worrying record for municipal debts.
