Trump and Putin Summit in Alaska: Preparation Details and Ukraine's Role.
On Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had a phone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. During the conversation, they agreed on the details of the upcoming summit between the leaders of the two countries in Alaska.
This was announced by U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce at a press conference.

The State Department spokesperson reported that the conversation between Rubio and Lavrov was dedicated to the preparation for the meeting between U.S. President and Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin, scheduled for August 15 in Alaska.
Representatives from both countries confirmed their readiness to hold the summit, as well as their commitment to its successful implementation.

It is worth noting that according to CNN, the meeting between Trump and Putin will take place at the Elmendorf-Richardson U.S. military base in Anchorage.
Additionally, she reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will not be invited to the meeting since the summit was initiated by Putin and he requested a meeting with Trump. According to Caroline Levitt, the goal of the meeting is to better understand how to end the war in Ukraine.
As a result of the phone conversation between U.S. Secretary of State Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, details of the upcoming summit of the leaders of the two countries in Alaska were agreed upon. Both sides confirmed their readiness for the meeting and expressed their commitment to its successful realization. It was also noted that President Putin initiated this meeting and expressed a desire to hear President Trump's thoughts on ways to end the war in Ukraine.
