Romania scrambled F-16s due to Russian drones: how allies reacted.

According to ТСН: On the night of December 26, during Russia's attack on the Odesa region, Romania activated its F-16 fighter jets.

Actions of the Romanian Aviation

The Romanian Ministry of Defense reported that at 01:05 two F-16 fighters from the 86th airbase in Fetești took to the air to monitor the situation in the border airspace with Ukraine, in the northern part of Tulcea County.

At 01:23, residents of the northern part of Tulcea County received alerts about air raid. During the mission, the fighters did not detect violations in the National Airspace. The aircraft returned to base at 03:15.

Attack on Odesa

That night, the Russian Federation again attacked Odesa. An infrastructure facility was hit. As a result of the drone strike, a fire broke out. According to local authorities, there were no casualties or injuries.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction, Oleksii Kuleba, noted that the occupiers had attempted to strike the ports of Odesa region. As a result of the drone hits, elevators, warehouses of civilian enterprises, a barge, and vessels under the flags of Slovakia and the Republic of Palau were damaged.

This night attack was marked by the activation of the Romanian air defense, underscoring the strengthening of military cooperation in the region. Such events compel other countries to carefully monitor the developments in the Black Sea region, as the security of airspace has become an important issue for many states.
