Ryanair reduces flights to Spain: which routes will be canceled from January.
According to inkorr.com: The budget airline Ryanair plans to cut its route network to Spain due to a conflict with the local airport operator Aena. This is reported by The Olive Press, noting that the reason is excessively high fees.
Cancellation of certain destinations
From January 1st next year, Ryanair will cease flights to Tenerife-North, Vigo, Jerez de la Frontera, and Valladolid. Additionally, the airline will reduce flights to airports in Santiago de Compostela, Zaragoza, Santander, Asturias, and Vitoria.
At the same time, it is planned to increase the number of flights to Palma, Malaga, and Alicante-Elche.
Possibility of suspending aircraft purchases
Furthermore, the company does not rule out the possibility of suspending aircraft purchases from Boeing if prices increase due to new tariffs from the U.S. government under Donald Trump.
The cancellation of routes to Spain is Ryanair's response to the conflict with airport operators Aena. While the airline is reducing the number of flights to some cities, it is simultaneously increasing them to other popular destinations. This may affect passengers' choices, but the consequences for competition in the Spanish air transport market remain unclear.
