Ryanair Tightens Check-in Deadlines: Consequences for Late Passengers.
Ryanair Implements Stricter Check-in Rules
According to Novyny.live: Passengers flying with Ryanair must now complete their check-in within the specified deadlines to avoid being denied boarding or facing extra fees. These new rules highlight the critical importance of adhering to check-in times to prevent unexpected complications and costs.
Updated Check-in Procedures
When does Ryanair's online check-in open? It becomes available 60 days before departure for passengers who have selected a specific seat. For those who receive a seat automatically, online check-in opens 24 hours before the flight. It is crucial to note that the online check-in window closes 2 hours before departure, so passengers should not delay completing this step.
If you miss the online check-in deadline, airport check-in is available up to 40 minutes before departure, but this service incurs an additional fee of 55 euros. This fee can significantly increase the total cost of a trip, making it advisable to handle check-in well in advance.
Starting in November 2025, paper boarding passes will be phased out, further emphasizing the necessity of online check-in. Ryanair also recommends arriving at the airport at least 2 hours before departure to allow sufficient time for all necessary procedures. Following these guidelines helps travelers avoid unnecessary expenses and confusion during their journey.
These policy changes reflect a broader industry trend toward streamlining passenger processes. The shift to digital boarding passes and a focus on online check-in aims to reduce airport queues and improve operational efficiency. For passengers, this means strict adherence to the specified timelines and procedures is more vital than ever for a smooth travel experience and to avoid last-minute surcharges.
