Trump at Ryder Cup: security measures tightened due to terror threat

According to The Sun: Donald Trump will be surrounded by enhanced security measures at the Ryder Cup following the announcement of new security protocols.

The U.S. President will arrive at Bethpage in New York on Friday, accompanied by armed Secret Service agents.

During the event, Trump will be protected by secret agents standing around the 88-year-old Black course, as well as hundreds of police officers.

Attendees have been warned about heightened security measures on the first day of the three-day historic competition.

TSA-style screening will be implemented at airports to protect Trump following an assassination attempt on his ally, right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.

Last year, Trump survived an assassination attempt when a sniper's bullet hit him in the ear during a rally in Pennsylvania.

Ryan Ruth was also found guilty of attempting to murder the president at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, last September.

The Ryder Cup organizers announced on Wednesday a ban on a number of common items at Bethpage on Friday.

Among the prohibited items are golf rangefinders due to concerns about a new sniper attack attempt on the president.

“Those attending the Ryder Cup on Friday, September 26, should expect heightened security measures and additional restrictions at Bethpage Black,” the Ryder Cup statement reads.

“Ticket holders are strongly advised to arrive as early as possible and plan extra time for their day.”

“In addition to security checks at entry, spectators will undergo TSA-style screenings in the club areas, near the grandstand, and adjacent territories.”

“If spectators leave these secure zones, they will need to go through screening again before re-entering.”

“Guests should limit personal belongings as much as possible.”

A long list of prohibited items in the grandstand and club area has already been sent to attendees.

These include portable folding chairs, large vapes, torch-style lighters, large umbrellas, and metal/hard plastic containers for drinks.
