Hurricane Forces Relocation of Junior Ryder Cup Final: Where Golfers Will Play Now.
According to The Sun: The Ryder Cup has been forced to change its location due to extreme weather conditions expected at Bethpage Black.
The competition between the teams of Europe and the USA starts on Friday as part of a historic three-day tournament featuring the best golf players.
GettyHowever, the PGA of America announced on Wednesday the relocation of the final day of the junior tournament.
The competition scheduled for Thursday will now take place not at Bethpage, New York.
The singles matches have been moved 15 miles to the historic Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove.
An official representative of the Ryder Cup made a statement about this tough decision for the junior players:
“Due to the forecast of bad weather on Thursday, September 25, and changes in the schedule at Bethpage Black,”
the statement continued:
“The singles matches of the 13th Junior Ryder Cup will take place between 8:00 and 9:39 AM at the historic Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, New York, which already hosted the head-to-head matches on Tuesday and Wednesday.”
This junior Ryder Cup marks the 13th time and unites the best players from the USA and Europe.
Forecasts suggest heavy rain and thunderstorms at Bethpage on Thursday, complicating the competitions.
Farmingdale, where the course is located, is expected to see significant precipitation throughout much of the day, including at night.
Meanwhile, the Ryder Cup is preparing to welcome the audience with heightened security measures on Friday when the main play begins.
President Donald Trump is expected to attend the event in the afternoon session.
Security services and police have implemented additional measures to ensure the president's safety.
This comes against the backdrop of the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk earlier this month.
The list of prohibited items will limit many areas on the course.
Among the banned items are distance measuring devices for balls due to concerns about a potential sniper attack on Trump.
Security checks similar to those at airports will also be implemented.
“Those planning to attend the Ryder Cup on Friday, September 26, should be prepared for enhanced security measures and additional restrictions at Bethpage Black,” the Ryder Cup statement read.
“Ticket holders are strongly advised to arrive as early as possible and plan their day accordingly with extra time.”
“In addition to security checks at the entrance, visitors will need to undergo TSA-like screenings in various areas around the club.”
“If visitors leave these secured zones, they will need to be screened again upon return.”
“Gates for ticket holders will open at 5:00 AM. Guests are advised to limit personal belongings to a minimum.”
The Ryder Cup is not only a competition but also a landmark event in the world of golf that unites players from different continents. Despite unpredictable weather conditions and additional security requirements, the organizers are ready to ensure an elevated spirit of competition. Celebrating its 13th anniversary, the tournament will undoubtedly become an important event for all golf and sports enthusiasts.
