Russia uses Shahed with R-60 missile for the first time: a new threat to Ukrainian helicopters.
New threats from kamikaze drones
According to ТСН: Russia has used the kamikaze drone 'Shahed' for the first time, equipped with the air-to-air R-60 missile, which creates new risks for Ukrainian helicopters.
Information indicates that the Russians are actively improving their drones, adding new weaponry elements that increase their danger. Experts emphasize that Ukraine urgently needs to work on solutions to neutralize this threat. This includes strengthening air defense and developing the domestic military-industrial complex.
Shahed drones with R-60 missiles are capable of attacking Ukrainian helicopters and other aerial targets; however, due to the increased weight, they may be slower, which gives Ukrainian air defense the opportunity to destroy them.
Moreover, it is crucial to detect their launch sites, as this task is key to reducing the threat.
Experts also highlighted the need to procure additional air defense systems, develop the domestic military-industrial complex, increase strikes on the launch sites of 'Shaheds,' and intensively use anti-drone technologies.
According to specialists, the R-60 missile has limited power with a warhead of up to three kilograms, so Ukrainian crews should be especially vigilant about their safety and monitor potential group attacks by drones.
The use of kamikaze drones introduces new elements into the dynamics of war, forcing Ukrainian forces to adapt their tactics. The increase in the enemy's technological armament requires Ukraine not only to strengthen defense measures but also to intensify efforts in the field of intelligence and risk forecasting. Targeted actions to destroy the drone launch platforms will be an important step in minimizing the threat of their attacks.
