Fraudsters masquerade as military personnel in fake letters: how not to fall for the bait.
The university's press service has confirmed this information.
Details of the scam
'Instances of sending fake messages from fictitious personnel and staff of the National University of Defense of Ukraine have been recorded with the aim of obtaining personal information or hacking devices via malicious attachments,' the statement says.
The university urged everyone to verify the authenticity of information through the institution's official channels, avoiding opening suspicious links, replying to them, and downloading files, even if they come from known individuals.
'In case of receiving a suspicious message, one should notify the competent authorities. The National University of Defense of Ukraine does not send documents for download through unofficial channels or messengers,' the press service added.
Earlier, there were reports about scammers sending citizens SMS from Ukrposhta requesting to confirm the delivery address.
It is also worth noting the case in Lviv, where a resident of Odesa duped a woman out of over 190 thousand hryvnias, claiming that her daughter was involved in a car accident and needed financial assistance.
Criminals are trying to scam by sending fake letters from the press service of the National University of Defense of Ukraine, as this type of fraud is a popular scam scheme. It is necessary to be particularly vigilant and check sources of information to prevent leaks of personal data and financial losses.Read also
