Sandu vs. Stoyanoglo: Moldova's second round of presidential elections underway.
On Sunday, November 3, Moldova began the second round of presidential elections. The current head of state Maia Sandu and former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoyanoglo compete for the presidential seat.
According to the Central Electoral Commission of Moldova, polling stations began operations at 7:00 AM and will remain open until 9:00 PM.
According to the website NewsMake, 2219 polling stations were opened for the election, of which 1988 are located in Moldova and 231 abroad.
The voter lists include 2.7 million citizens. 2400 observers monitor the voting process.
Recall that in the first round of elections held on October 20, Maia Sandu received support from 42.45% of voters, while Alexandr Stoyanoglo was supported by 25.98% of citizens. A total of 11 candidates participated in the first round.
The European Union previously made a statement regarding the referendum and elections in Moldova.
