Ukrainian Security Service Eliminates Russian Hitman and Detains Over a Dozen Agents: Inside the Operation.
Countering Russian Aggression: Key SBU Operations
According to UATV: Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has carried out a series of successful missions aimed at neutralizing threats from Russian intelligence agencies. Among the key achievements, operatives eliminated a hitman linked to Russian military intelligence and arrested more than ten members of an enemy combat network. These actions are part of the SBU's broader efforts, which have become increasingly critical in the context of the ongoing war with Russia.
Leveraging New Technology
In January 2025, the SBU executed a precision drone strike on a port in Ust-Luga, Russia. This operation continues a pattern of deploying cutting-edge technology in military campaigns. Back in 2022, the SBU used a Ukrainian-made maritime drone for the first time, marking a significant milestone. A standout moment came on October 8, 2022, when the agency orchestrated the bombing of the Kerch Bridge. That strategic target was hit twice more after the initial attack, reflecting a deliberate strategy to disrupt Russian military logistics.
In 2023, the SBU unveiled two new models of naval drones: Sea Baby and 'Kozak Mamai.' Since the conflict began, Ukraine has destroyed or disabled one-fifth of Russia's Black Sea Fleet vessels by early 2024. Operation 'Pautina,' launched in 2025 and lasting over 18 months, has been a pivotal phase in the fight against Russian forces.

According to Bloomberg, the shutdown of some Russian oil refining capacity has driven domestic fuel prices up by 20-30%. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that 'your combat results have positively influenced all strategic battles of this war,' highlighting the broader impact of SBU successes on the overall conflict.
These SBU actions demonstrate the growing effectiveness of Ukraine's security services in countering Russian aggression, as well as the critical role of advanced technology and innovative strategies in achieving military objectives.
The SBU's achievements in eliminating threats from Russian intelligence and integrating new tools like drones underscore the urgency and necessity of proactive measures amid the ongoing war. These operations not only reduce risks to Ukraine but also shape the broader regional military landscape, particularly by hampering Russia's ability to conduct military operations. Importantly, such efforts enjoy strong support at the highest levels of government, reflecting a clear and consistent strategy against the aggressor.
