Ukraine’s SBU Launches 40-Day Campaign: Strikes Hit Refineries, Airfields, and Crimea.
Ukraine’s Security Service Operation
According to Слово і Діло — Інфографіка: The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is executing a 40-day operation approved by President Volodymyr Zelensky on June 25, 2026, aimed at pressuring Russia toward peace. This campaign has involved multiple strikes on oil infrastructure and military targets, including those in Crimea.
According to SBU-released data, the operation has delivered:
- 6 strikes on oil refineries;
- 10 strikes on other oil infrastructure facilities.
Key targets have included military airfields, ferries, and oil infrastructure located in Russian-controlled territory.
Major Operational Events
On June 26, 2026, the SBU attacked military support vessels, including the 'Volga' and 'Vyatka,' as well as the ferry 'Petropavlovsk.' A few days later, on July 1, a strike targeted the 'Saki' military airfield, which was hit again on July 3. Subsequently, on July 6, 2026, a 'Pantsir-S2' surface-to-air missile system near Simferopol was attacked.
Special focus was placed on oil refineries. On June 28, 2026, the SBU struck the 'Slavyansky' refinery in the Krasnodar region. Continuing the operation, on July 9 and July 13, 2026, fuel depots in Vyazniki and Mikhailovsk were targeted. The SBU’s campaign thus extends beyond Crimea to other regions, including central areas, the south, Bashkortostan, and northern Russia.
The Security Service of Ukraine is maintaining its operations, aiming to achieve peace and stability in the region.
The SBU operation is designed not only to damage Russia’s military infrastructure but also to demonstrate Ukraine’s resolve in countering aggression.
These actions are likely to shape the future negotiation environment and could act as a catalyst for new diplomatic initiatives. Amid the ongoing conflict, monitoring the international community’s response and the potential consequences for regional security is crucial.
