SBU and NABU exposed the embezzlement of 10 million in the Ministry of Justice: who is under suspicion.
A joint investigation by the SBU and NABU showed that the chief official of the Ministry of Justice was involved in fraud with budget funds. The former state secretary of this agency and other high-ranking officials are suspected in this crime.
According to the SBU, the criminals entered into a contract with a company for the purchase of equipment and software for over 19 million hryvnias in 2021. They inflated the purchase price, which allowed them to steal over 10 million hryvnias from the budget.
Actions of the suspects
Among the suspects are the former state secretary, heads, and deputies of departments. They face a penalty of up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property, the SBU reported.
Additionally, earlier the SBU detained a spy who was acting in favor of Russia and exposed a former official of the Ministry of Defense in a corrupt scheme.
As a result of the joint investigation by the SBU and NABU, it has been discovered that the chief official of the Ministry of Justice was involved in a corruption scheme that led to the loss of over 10 million hryvnias from the budget. A criminal case has already been initiated in this matter, and the suspects may face trial and receive a penalty of up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
