The SBU investigates the escalator incident for Trump at the UN: what really happened.
Investigation of the escalator malfunction causes
According to The Sun: A large-scale investigation has begun in Ukraine regarding the escalator malfunction that outraged Donald Trump during the UN summit.
The situation, which initially seemed like a joke, could lead to a serious crisis, as the escalator stopped just at the moment when Trump was stepping onto it.
UNTV/REUTERSTrump and his wife Melania nearly lost their balance before they had to walk on foot prior to his main speech.
At the top of the stairs, Trump encountered a woman and told her:
“Your escalator just broke.”
Now the US Secret Service has intervened in the investigation. Information from The Sunday Times stated that UN staff joked about shutting down the escalator to 'intentionally sabotage' the president.
The US press secretary called for the dismissal of those responsible, posting an emotional message on social media.
“If someone at the UN deliberately stopped the escalator when the president and first lady were stepping onto it, they should be fired and an investigation should be conducted immediately.”
This incident drew attention to a series of issues within the UN, raising suspicions of possible sabotage against Trump by organization staff following his harsh criticism of them.
When Trump approached the podium to speak, it turned out that the teleprompter was not working, and the main audio feed to news channels switched to foreign translation at the end of his speech.
Levitt commented again on the situation, stating:
“If we find out that these UN staff tried to trip the president and first lady, those people must be held accountable.”

Trump then accused the UN of inaction after he was forced to climb the stairs.
In his speech, Trump mentioned these inconveniences as evidence of UN inactivity.
For a moment, he accused the organization of only sending
“strongly worded”letters to countries in conflict instead of negotiating peace.
In addition, he praised his decisive approach, claiming that under his leadership, seven wars had been concluded.
Investigation concluded
After the publication of the report, the UN stated that the investigation showed that Trump's videographer might have accidentally activated the escalator's safety mechanism.

Trump later expressed dissatisfaction with the UN again due to having to climb the stairs.
He emphasized this during his speech, pointing out these incidents as examples of UN inactivity.
This case highlights the tension between the Trump administration and the UN, questioning the latter's effectiveness in situations requiring swift and decisive action. The focus on these events also opened new questions regarding security and protocol during international meetings.
