New Long-Range Weapons for Ukraine Under Development by Britain: Initial Tests Completed.
Britain's New Long-Range Strike Systems
According to Novyny.live: The United Kingdom is actively developing new long-range strike systems that could be supplied to Ukraine. Initial tests of these systems have already taken place at a firing range in the Hebrides Islands. Capable of hitting targets at distances exceeding 300 miles—roughly 480 to 500 kilometers—these weapons carry a warhead weighing approximately 250 kilograms, underscoring their power and effectiveness.
The Project Brakestop Initiative
This effort is part of the Project Brakestop program, which aims to create weapons that can reach speeds above 370 miles per hour, or about 600 km/h. Plans call for serial production of at least 20 such systems per month, reflecting Britain's serious commitment to advancing this technology.
British officials are considering transferring the first units to Ukraine within the next year, a move that could significantly bolster the defensive capabilities of Ukrainian armed forces. Notably, on June 16, the United Kingdom announced a new package of energy sanctions against Russia, likely tied to the escalating military situation in the region and ongoing support for Ukraine.
In this way, the new long-range strike systems not only showcase Britain's technological progress but could also become a key element of international support for Ukraine amid military conflicts.
The development of these strike systems by the UK highlights the growing military cooperation between Western nations and Ukraine. Against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict with Russia, such technologies could substantially shift the regional balance of power, providing Ukraine with new opportunities for defense and counteroffensives. It also underscores Britain's commitment to upholding Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty in the face of aggression. These steps may encourage other countries to increase their military aid to Ukraine, ultimately influencing the dynamics of the conflict.
