The crimes were committed over several years: one student was abused from April to June 2024, and the other from 2017 to 2018. The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office announced Julie's admission of guilt on August 29, 2025, before Judge Jill G. O'Malley.
Under the plea agreement, Rizzitello is expected to face a 10-year prison sentence. The court hearing is scheduled for January 9, 2026. In addition to prison time, she will have to register as a sex offender and remain under lifetime probation supervision.
Investigation and Testimony
The investigation began after an anonymous tip to school officials, leading to a police investigation. One of the students reported that Rizzitello sent him nude photographs and that sexual acts occurred between them in three New Jersey towns: Wall, Belmar, and Brick. Further analysis of the victim's phone confirmed these allegations.
Additionally, it became known that the victim had told his friends about these sexual encounters with the teacher. After her arrest on July 3, 2024, it was also revealed that Rizzitello had been accused of sexual relations with another student, who was 17 years old, between 2017 and 2018.
Reaction and Consequences
Rizzitello, who taught English to ninth graders and prepared them for the SAT, resigned before her arrest. She had been working in the Wall Township education system since 2013 and was earning a salary of $62,000.
Wall Town Police Chief Sean O'Halloran called the case a 'betrayal of trust' for the victims and the school community, emphasizing the bravery of the victims who came forward to report it.
