Russia’s Attack on Civilians Is Terrorism, Says Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Urging EU to Adopt 20th Sanctions Package.
Statement by Andrii Sybiha
According to UATV: On March 24, 2023, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, issued a statement condemning Russia’s strikes on civilian targets as acts of terrorism, linking them to Moscow’s battlefield setbacks. He reported that Russia launched a coordinated assault on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, deploying 426 aerial attack systems, including drones and missiles.
Call for Tougher Sanctions
Sybiha urged the international community to tighten measures against the aggressor, declaring:
“Sanctions must be tougher. The EU needs to approve its 20th sanctions package.” - Andrii Sybiha
He also stressed the need for unified action to uphold global peace and security, asserting:
“Together, we must defend international peace and security through strength and decisive action. Russia will not stop on its own—it must be forced to stop.” - Andrii Sybiha
The minister’s remarks underscore the severity of the ongoing threat to Ukraine. This appeal comes as Kyiv continues to face relentless Russian aggression, and stronger sanctions could serve as a key tool for the international community to counter such hostility and support Ukraine. Additional restrictions may also pressure Russia’s economy, potentially limiting its military capabilities.
Strengthening the global coalition around Ukraine remains essential for ensuring stability in the region.
