The Defense Forces showed how the training of former prisoners takes place (video).
Former prisoners who decided to join the Marine Brigade are undergoing training. The Defense Forces of southern Ukraine showed the process of preparing fighters.
The military published footage showing the training of former prisoners who joined servicemen from the «Shkval» unit of the 35th Marine Brigade. The mobilized undergo training, where storming trenches is one of the final stages.
«Former prisoners, now fighters of the Odessa Marine Brigade, are honing their action algorithms to automatism right during the firefight with a conditional enemy,» says the press service of the southern Defense Forces.
The military notes that these trainings are extremely important, as in the near future the fighters will face Russian occupiers.

Recall that the potential mobilization reserve through prisoners in Ukraine is actually small. As of mid-May 2024, there were 27,471 convicts in colonies, including 1,538 women. Most of these people, 20,000, can use a special law to go to the front.
As is known, not all convicts in Ukraine have the right to early conditional release in exchange for army service. The road to the front is closed to those convicted of: crimes against Ukraine's national security (Articles 109-114-2 of the Criminal Code); premeditated murder of two or more persons, or committed with special cruelty, or associated with rape or sexual violence (part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code); criminal offenses against sexual freedom and integrity (criminal offenses under Articles 152-156-1 of the Criminal Code); terrorism (criminal offenses under Articles 258-258-6 of the Criminal Code); fatal accident committed under the influence of drugs or alcohol (part 4 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code); attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer, a member of a public formation to protect public order and state border, or a serviceman (Article 348 of the Criminal Code).
Also, conditional early release from punishment for military service will not be applied to convicted officials who held particularly responsible positions.
By the way, in July, seven women serving sentences in prison contracted with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The seven convicted women successfully passed the military medical commission and received consent from unit commanders to serve in the Defense Forces units.
