Ukrainian forces suspended advance in Kurshyna. ISW analysis.
On Saturday, August 31, Ukrainian forces continued to carry out attacks in the Kurshyna region of the Russian Federation, but no confirmed advances were reported. This is stated in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Russian sources claimed that Ukrainian forces were launching attacks:
to the southwest of Korenevo in the areas of Komarivka and Chervonozhovtneve;
south of Korenevo in the area of Snahosta;
east of Korenevo in the areas of Matviivka and Kremiany;
northwest of Sudzhi in the areas of Bakhtinky and Malaya Loknya;
north of Sudzhi in the areas of Kamishivka and Kiriyivka;
northeast of Sudzhi in the areas of Nechayeva and Martynivka;
south of Sudzhi in the area of Plekovo;
southeast of Sudzhi in the areas of Birki and Cherkaskaya Konopelka.
Some Russian bloggers claimed that Russian troops had displaced Ukrainians from Nizhnya Parovaya (northeast of Sudzhi). However, another blogger noted that the settlement is a contested 'grey zone'.
Russian sources claimed that Russian troops had regained 1.5 kilometers of territory near Korenevo and displaced the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Nechaeva.
Ukrainian drone forces reported that their drones and rocket artillery carried out a joint mission and hit a Russian pontoon bridge across the Seim River, likely in the vicinity of Glushkovo.
It is reported that units of the 'Kastan' group (Chechen special forces Ahmat), the Arbat group (Russian volunteer corps), the 1427th motorized rifle regiment (territorial forces) and unidentified Ossetian volunteer units are operating near Nechaeva. It is also noted that units of the 810th Marine Brigade (Black Sea Fleet), 11th and 83rd Airborne Brigades (VDV), the 56th Airborne Regiment (7th VDV Division) and the Shir group (Russian volunteer corps) are operating in the Kurshyna region.
Russian forces are repositioning for defense in the Kurshyna region
According to ISW, the Russian military command may have redeployed limited units assigned to reinforce the offensive operation in the Pokrovsky direction, to defend against Ukrainian invasion in the Kurshyna region. Therefore, the operational pressure from the Ukrainian invasion in the Kurshyna region is affecting Russian operations in all sectors.
