Enemy Assault on July 17

According to UATV: On July 17, Russian forces launched a large-scale assault on Ukrainian territory using both missiles and drones. Ukraine's armed forces successfully repelled the attack, intercepting a substantial number of hostile targets—specifically, five Kh-59/69 guided missiles and 115 attack drones.

The assault involved the following weaponry:

  • one Kh-31P anti-radiation missile,
  • seven Kh-59/69 missiles,
  • 130 attack drones.

Missiles were launched from the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, while drones were deployed from Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo, Oryol (all in Russia), as well as from areas in Donetsk region and Hvardiiske (Crimea).

According to reports, five Kh-59/69 guided missiles were shot down in northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine. However, two missiles and eight attack drones managed to hit targets across seven locations. Additionally, debris fell at five sites, but the Kh-31P anti-radiation missile failed to reach its intended target.

Ukrainian Forces' Role in Repelling the Attack

The defense effort involved aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire groups. This event highlights the ongoing aggression against Ukraine and demonstrates the effectiveness of Ukrainian forces in defending the country's airspace.

This attack is part of the protracted conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which has been ongoing since 2014. The increasing intensity of these strikes reflects the enemy's desire to escalate military operations, potentially impacting regional security. At the same time, Ukraine's successful interception of these attacks underscores its readiness and capability to protect its airspace, a critical factor in the current war.
