How many Ukrainian teachers may leave the profession by 2030: a survey.
More than 40% of teachers in Ukraine plan to leave the profession by 2030, according to a study conducted as part of the 'Osvitoriya' project.
It was also found that less than half of the teachers are satisfied with their work.
The study revealed that teachers are aging. The average age category of teachers in Ukraine is 45 years:
More than 30% of teachers are already retired or nearing retirement age. Over the past five years, the number of young teachers under 30 has decreased by 1.6 times. This means that more than 15 thousand young educators have not been replaced.
It was previously announced that starting in January 2025, Ukrainian teachers will receive an additional 1000 hryvnias, and by September this amount will double.
It is worth noting that the income of most Ukrainians remains low. According to the study, 43% of citizens earn less than 10 thousand hryvnias per month. Although this figure is 10% lower than in 2023 when it was 53%, most respondents (56%) consider their incomes insufficient for a decent living.
Recently, the Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi revealed how much teachers should earn and explained why teachers' salaries in schools and kindergartens are so low.
Deputy Nina Yuzhanina stated that if the military tax is raised to 5%, teachers' salaries will decrease by 3.5%.
