The process of checking Ukrainian legislation against the requirements of the European Union as part of the negotiations for Ukraine's accession to the EU has progressed very quickly. This was reported by European Commission spokesperson Guillaume Mercer. He noted that Ukraine has already fulfilled all the conditions for the opening of the first cluster of negotiations 'Fundamentals'. However, Hungary has blocked the opening of this cluster due to its demands regarding the rights of the Hungarian national minority in Transcarpathia. It was also reported that Ukraine continues to have the fastest pace of EU accession among countries that have ever sought to become its members.
