Sloviansk Celebrates 11 Years of Freedom from Occupiers.
Today, July 5, 2025, the city of Sloviansk celebrated the 11th anniversary of liberation from Russian invaders. The ceremonial events took place with the participation of military personnel and leaders of law enforcement agencies. They honored the memory of Ukrainian defenders who died during the events of 2014 by laying flowers at the memorial.
“Since 2014, this is a special day for every Sloviansk resident. A day when our army returned to us the right to live under the Ukrainian flag on our own land,” emphasized Vadim Lyakh.
The conflict in Sloviansk began in April 2014 when Russian troops, along with pro-Russian militants, captured the city. In response, the Ukrainian authorities launched an anti-terrorist operation that led to a series of hostilities and losses among the civilian population. However, thanks to the courage and determination of Ukrainian defenders, the city was liberated and returned under the control of Ukraine.
The celebration of the anniversary of Sloviansk's liberation has become a symbol of remembrance for the heroism of Ukrainian defenders in the fight against the occupation of the city and the loss of lives during the conflict. It also allowed the local population to honor the memory of the fallen and emphasize the importance of the joint struggle for the freedom and independence of Ukraine.
