According to The Sun: A small station located in Eden Valley, Cumbria, has been awarded the title of the best in Great Britain.

The plans include improving the station's space and buildings, as well as the station house located on the cantilever section.
Abandoned rooms will also be restored, and new shops will appear on one of the platforms.
The project is expected to create 12 new jobs and two new businesses for the town.
Work on the station is expected to be completed by mid-2026.
Future plans
Network Rail also plans to replace the Clifton Bridge, which is located near Penrith station, in 2026.
This bridge, which has nearly a 60-year history, serves trains that cross the M6, but currently causes issues, as only one train can pass over the bridge at a time, leading to delays.
Once completed, the new structure will be 135 meters long.
Another project - 'Connecting Penrith' - aims to link Penrith station with Keswick and broader areas, enabling passengers to access a greater number of local entertainment venues.
In the future, new ticket-selling services, such as bike rentals, may also be introduced.
According to Cumbria Crack, the jury of the National Railway Awards noted that Penrith station is a convenient transport hub focused on the community, attracting customers.
“I am thrilled that Penrith station has been awarded the best small station of the year,” said station manager Mark Green.
“We are a small but very organized team, including our community gardeners, and this recognition in the industry is a testament to the dedication and passion the team shows every day.”
Penrith station was opened in 1846 as part of the Lancaster and Carlisle railway.

Today, the station is an important stop on the West Coast, connecting major stations such as London Euston and Glasgow Central.

Nearby the town is Penrith Beacon - a stone tower built on top of a wooded hill, serving as an excellent spot for walks and picnics with panoramic views.
