Exhumations Planned in ‘Skelya’ Regiment Deaths as Probe Intensifies.
Mobilized Soldiers’ Deaths Under Investigation in the ‘Skelya’ Regiment
According to Novyny.live: Authorities are preparing to exhume the bodies of deceased soldiers as part of an ongoing investigation into fatalities within the ‘Skelya’ military regiment. Lawyer Tetiana Kozachenko stated that these exhumations are essential for determining the true causes of death. By performing additional forensic examinations, investigators hope to address the many unanswered questions surrounding these tragic incidents.
Regiment commander Yurii Harkavyi has been suspended while the probe is underway. This step became necessary as the inquiry, led by Dmytro Lubinets, also examines allegations of torture within the unit. Kozachenko emphasized that
“the number of deaths clearly indicates there are serious problems.”She further noted that
“in cases where pneumonia was listed as the cause of death, questions about possible injuries arise—and only expert examinations can provide answers.”
Investigation Process
The investigation continues, and the results of the exhumations could prove critical in uncovering the circumstances that led to the soldiers’ deaths. It is vital that all investigative actions are carried out properly to establish the truth and hold those responsible accountable.
This case marks a significant step toward ensuring transparency and accountability within the military. The openness of the investigation and its findings could impact public trust in military institutions and the conditions under which soldiers serve. If evidence of misconduct is confirmed, it may lead to policy changes regarding mobilization and the management of military units.
