The government presents a new support program for internally displaced persons

The government of Ukraine plans to launch a new support program for internally displaced persons, which will help them with housing rent expenses. The 'Winter Support' program will start on January 29, 2024.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that this program will provide assistance to thousands of internally displaced persons during this difficult Time.

This month, another 'Winter Support' program will start - applications for housing rent subsidies for internally displaced persons will be accepted. This will significantly help our citizens during this challenging time.

According to Olena Shuliak, a representative of the 'Servant of the People' party, the amount of the subsidy will be calculated individually depending on family income, the number of its members, and the cost of rent. Importantly, receiving this subsidy will not affect the ability to receive assistance for communal services payments.

Who is entitled to state support

The support program applies to internally displaced persons whose income does not allow them to allocate more than 20% of the family's total income for housing rent. This program will operate in the Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Compensation for landlords

The program also provides for tax rate compensation for landlords. This is the only legal protection tool for internally displaced persons to avoid eviction and increase in rental prices.

We remind that the Pension Fund of Ukraine started financing pensions, subsidies, and sick leaves for January.
