In Spain, trains have been launched for €9: routes and travel dates.
Cheap train tickets in Spain
According to The Sun: Traveling by train can be quite costly, but one European company is offering extraordinarily cheap tickets.
Some of their routes cost only €9 (£7.84) – for this amount, you can travel between popular beaches and cities deep within the country.
AlamyOuigo has launched a promotion with cheap tickets for passengers, valid for travel from December 14, 2025, to August 2, 2026.
With these tickets, travelers can head to cities in Spain such as Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Zaragoza, Alicante, Albacete, Cuenca, Valladolid, Segovia, and Tarragona.
This is a real opportunity for tourists to travel around Spain and visit various locations—from the beaches of Barcelona and Alicante to the bustling cities of Murcia and Madrid.
New routes and services
This year, Ouigo has added four new routes: Madrid-Barcelona, Madrid-Sevilla, Madrid-Malaga, and Madrid-Murcia.
One of the routes for €9 (£7.84) runs from Alicante to Murcia from December to the summer of next year.
Among the most popular routes is Barcelona-Madrid, where tickets cost €15 (£13.06).
For a low price, travelers get free transport of one backpack and one piece of hand luggage.
For an additional fee, you can choose a seat in advance, get Wi-Fi, and entertainment.
These additions are available for passengers who opt for the Ouigo Plus service, which costs an additional €9 (£7.84).
There is also the option to take pets for an extra fee of €10 (£8.71).

Children under three travel for free if they sit on an adult's lap during the trip.
Tickets can be purchased on their website and the Ouigo app.
New travel initiatives
Another railway company plans to launch an alternative for short flights in Europe.
The company Nox has announced plans to start a night train service with private cabins and a unique view for passengers at an affordable price.
The launch of Nox aims to create a 'true alternative to short flights,' offering exclusively private rooms on its night trains starting in 2027.
Nox plans to connect cities in Europe, starting with Stockholm, Vienna, Amsterdam, Toulouse, Barcelona, and Reggio di Calabria in Italy.
Tickets are not yet on sale, but Nox hopes prices will be 'affordable as air travel.'
It is expected that the price for single rooms will be only €79 (£68.77), and for double rooms starting from €149 (£129.70).
