Record-Breaking Heat Hits Europe: Ukraine Braces for Temperatures Up to +30°C.
Weather Trends Across Ukraine and Europe
According to Espreso.tv: Meteorologist Natalka Didenko reported on the show 'Now Mainly' that temperatures are rising across Ukraine, while a severe heatwave in Europe has already resulted in excess deaths. Starting July 27, air temperatures in Ukraine could reach or exceed +30°C. Didenko noted that this summer has brought predominantly moderate continental weather to Ukraine, with the current week expected to offer comfortable temperatures interspersed with occasional rain.
Europe's Scorching Conditions
The European heatwave began on June 21, and between June 22 and 28, nearly 10,650 excess deaths were recorded across 27 EU countries. In early July, Rome experienced extreme heat surpassing 37°C—a record-breaking figure not seen in Italy since 1753. Despite these alarming trends, Didenko added that there is no basis to predict a prolonged heatwave of the kind currently affecting Western Europe.
As a result, while Ukraine is seeing higher temperatures, the situation remains under control. In contrast, Europe's heatwave is having serious health consequences for its population. Although the temperature increase in Ukraine is noticeable, it has not triggered the same critical impacts seen in neighboring European countries, where the toll on human life is significant. This highlights the urgent need for preventive measures against heat-related risks in regions where conditions could become more dangerous.
