He is accused of orchestrating a criminal group that, according to investigators, illegally seized control of an oil pipeline between 2015 and 2018. The indictment focuses on Medvedchuk's alleged role in creating and leading this organized group, which engaged in systematic abuse.

The value of the pipeline asset, part of which was misappropriated, is estimated at 1.4 billion Ukrainian hryvnias. Medvedchuk faces specific charges of abuse of power and falsifying expert assessments. The group is alleged to have laundered over 29.9 million euros in illicit proceeds. This case is part of a broader, ongoing anti-corruption drive in Ukraine targeting high-profile figures. Currently, Viktor Medvedchuk is residing in Russia.

Legal proceedings concerning other alleged participants in the scheme have been separated into a distinct case. In July 2024, Medvedchuk was formally notified of suspicion in the case involving the 'Samara-Western Direction' oil pipeline. This follows a related investigation by the State Bureau of Investigations, which in June 2024 uncovered a financial fraud scheme involving the brothers of former MPs Medvedchuk and Kozak.

Ruslan Kravchenko, a law enforcement representative, stated: 'After gaining control of the asset, the group's participants used it for their personal enrichment.'
