On Wednesday in London, high-ranking officials from Ukraine and Europe will meet with representatives from the USA to discuss proposals that could cause discontent in Kyiv. According to The Washington Post, the USA proposes to recognize the annexation of Crimea and freeze the front line as part of a peace treaty. Ukraine hopes to receive security guarantees and reconstruction programs in exchange for territorial concessions. The USA's proposals also include recognizing Crimea as Russian territory and gradually lifting sanctions on Russia. In return, Russia is expected to cease hostilities in Ukraine. However, these proposals have sparked varying reactions from Ukrainian and European officials, as the pace of negotiations does not satisfy the Trump administration. Ukraine and its European allies are trying to use diplomatic negotiations and their influence in favor of Ukraine. Europe may use frozen assets to fund post-war reconstruction. However, the main question is what benefits Ukraine will receive in exchange for concessions in the negotiations. Recognizing Crimea as Russian territory will strike a blow to the morale of the Ukrainian people, but many analysts acknowledge Russia's strong control over the peninsula. Ukraine seeks to regain control over Crimea, but this is impossible through military action. Therefore, diplomatic efforts are the most effective way to resolve the conflict. Ukrainian officials hope for the support of allies and to obtain security guarantees and assistance in post-war recovery. It is important to continue diplomatic efforts and seek compromise solutions.
