Pentagon Cuts Ties with Bundeswehr: How This Will Affect Aid to Ukraine

According to ТСН: The Pentagon has completely ceased cooperation with the German Ministry of Defense, which includes coordinating military aid to Ukraine.

This was reported in an interview with the American publication by the commander of the ground forces of the German Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Christian Freuding.

Complicated Situation

The situation was complicated by the fact that the Trump administration did not inform the German partners about the suspension of supplies of certain weapons to Kyiv.

General Christian Freuding, who previously was responsible for coordinating military support for Ukraine, confirmed that cooperation with the US has effectively stopped. He noted that he could previously exchange messages with Pentagon representatives around the clock, but now the connection is 'broken, really cut off.'

Now, to obtain the necessary information, the German general has to turn to the German embassy in Washington, where staff are trying to 'find someone in the Pentagon.' This complicates the coordination of aid for Kyiv. In addition, the German partners were left without prior warning about the suspension of certain types of weapons, creating additional difficulties in planning assistance.

Trust Crisis

This week, a crisis of trust towards the United States has intensified in Europe, calling into question their commitment to the transatlantic alliance, which has been the foundation of Western unity since World War II.

The cessation of cooperation between the Pentagon and the German Ministry of Defense highlights new challenges in international relations that may affect support for Ukraine in its struggle. This situation may push European countries to look for new ways to ensure defense capabilities and humanitarian assistance to Kyiv, considering the growing risks in international politics.
