The USA does not impose sanctions on the Russian Federation due to China and India: how it affects the war
The USA is not currently imposing secondary sanctions against Russia due to the potential impact on China and India - the main buyers of Russian goods. Halyna Yanchenko, a member of parliament, noted that such restrictions would significantly hit Russia's finances and cut funding for the war against Ukraine, as Moscow received over 115 billion dollars from these countries last year.

The USA is considering new restrictions

Halyna Yanchenko mentioned that the USA's secondary sanctions are aimed at pressuring countries that make deals with Russia, rather than directly restricting Russia itself. She also emphasized that by purchasing energy resources and defense goods from the Russian Federation, China and India could become targets of influence.

'Key countries such as China and India, which are supplied by Russian products, could fall under these restrictions', - explained Yanchenko.

Yanchenko also expressed the opinion that the possible influence on these countries is the reason why the USA has not introduced secondary sanctions so far. She also emphasized that such restrictions would significantly reduce funding for the Russian military machine.

'Last year, Russia spent 150 billion dollars on the war while earning 115 billion from trade with China and India', - she noted.

Halyna Yanchenko added that without such income, it would be harder for the Kremlin to maintain a high level of military spending and continue aggression against Ukraine.

USA representatives are currently not imposing secondary sanctions against Russia due to the potential negative impact on countries that are the main buyers of Russian products - China and India. Halyna Yanchenko's statement indicates that such restrictions would significantly harm Russia's financial stability and jeopardize funding for aggression against Ukraine.
