The USA is gathering data on migrants to deprive them of housing and jobs – WP.
Officials in the administration of US President Donald Trump, who are working with the US Government Accountability Office (GAO), are demanding federal agencies provide information about the work, education, and residence of their employees. This was reported by The Washington Post, as noted by the Ukrainian news agency 'Hlavkom'.
According to the publication, the Trump administration is using personal data, which is usually protected by law, to identify illegal migrants. The newspaper claims that these measures are aimed at depriving these individuals of housing and jobs.
For instance, representatives of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development plan to prohibit mixed immigration families from living in public housing complexes, where some family members are in the country legally, while others are illegal.
The Government Accountability Office is also proposing the eviction of families already living under such conditions and wants to prevent access for illegal migrants to public programs, even if they live with US citizens or lawful residents.
Previously, the administration of US President Donald Trump made the decision to revoke temporary legal status for 530,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, who reside in the US.
