Bridge Collapse in China
According to The Sun: An impressive moment of the collapse of a 2,500-foot bridge appeared online just a few months after its opening in China. Dramatic footage shows a huge wave of soil collapse engulfing the Hongqi bridge in the southwestern province of Sichuan, leading to its sudden fall.
“The bridge collapsed in a cloud of dust, and the video shows how the slope begins to give way.”
The incident occurred on Tuesday when natural disasters caused significant damage to the region's infrastructure.
Witnesses were shocked by what happened as the bridge was new and only recently opened for traffic.
This collapse highlights the serious challenges faced by infrastructure in regions where natural disasters can have catastrophic consequences. Local authorities have yet to announce possible causes of the collapse, but it has sparked discussion about construction standards and infrastructure management in the context of climate change.
