Staff Meeting: Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the situation after the shelling
On August 26, 2024, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a Staff meeting dedicated to the restoration of energy after a massive Russian shelling. According to the President, the attack consisted of at least 127 missiles and 109 drones.
At the meeting, reports were heard from key officials: Commander of the Air Force Mykola Oleshchuk, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko, and Chairman of the Board of "Ukrenergo" Volodymyr Kudrytskiy.
Zelensky reported that a detailed analysis of the effectiveness of air defense systems, electronic warfare, and mobile fire groups in each region was conducted. The state of the engineering protection of the facilities was also reviewed. Based on the results of the discussion, appropriate decisions were made.
The President noted that the recovery from the shelling continues at the damaged facilities, repairs are being carried out, and demining is ongoing. He emphasized that in some places, Russia attacked civilian facilities with cluster munitions, which requires the work of sappers before energy workers can begin repairs.
Particular attention at the meeting was paid to the situation at the front. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported on the operational situation, particularly on the defense of Pokrovsk. Based on this report, a decision was made to further strengthen this direction.
