Vapes and IQOS banned on planes: why it is dangerous and what penalties exist
Many tourists have switched from regular cigarettes, which have an unpleasant smell, to electronic cigarettes and IQOS. However, it is strictly prohibited to smoke them on a plane.Flight attendant Tanya Ivanikhina explained more about this ban on TikTok.

Ban on vapes and IQOS on planes

The flight attendant explained that such devices become very dangerous on a plane. In particular, during the journey, the battery of an electronic cigarette may overheat and smoke or catch fire.

Furthermore, the vapor may trigger the smoke detector on the plane, which the crew views as a safety threat on board. Also, the flavoring may cause allergic reactions and nausea in other passengers.

"The ban significantly simplifies control, minimizes risks, no one needs to figure out where it is allowed to smoke. For using such devices on a plane, you might incur a fine," the flight attendant warned.

She added that the amount of fines depends on the airline, amounting to approximately $2000-3000. Additionally, for such violations, one may be blacklisted and completely banned from traveling with that particular airline.
