Ukraine’s Housing Subsidies to Be Renewed Automatically

According to Novyny.live: Starting in spring 2026, the majority of Ukrainian citizens will see their housing subsidies renewed without needing to reapply. However, this automatic process does not apply to individuals who have made large financial transactions within the past year. Under Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 848, a household may lose its eligibility for subsidies if its members spent more than 100,000 UAH during the 12 months prior to applying for assistance.

How Major Purchases Affect Subsidy Eligibility

Certain expenses can disqualify a household from receiving housing subsidies. These include:

  • real estate
  • vehicles
  • investments
  • construction materials
  • various services
  • contributions to charter capital
  • financial and charitable aid

It is crucial to inform the Pension Fund authorities of any changes in a household’s property status within 30 days; failure to do so may complicate subsidy receipt.

Notably, a subsidy will not be revoked if family members are abroad for up to 60 days. This is an important detail for those planning travel or temporary work overseas.

To apply for a subsidy, Ukrainians can submit a request through the 'Diia' online platform. This is designed to simplify the process and save time. Additionally, it is essential to know how to verify whether subsidy rights remain intact, especially given shifts in household financial circumstances.

This automatic renewal is part of the government’s broader effort to streamline access to social assistance. Yet, the new rules could significantly impact many Ukrainians’ financial situations. By clearly regulating large expenditures, the policy aims to prevent abuse and ensure that aid reaches only those who genuinely need it. Given these changes, it is vital for citizens to stay informed about the new requirements and promptly report any changes in their financial status.
