Subsidies will become more accessible: Ukrainians will be able to provide data on utilities themselves.
The Ministry of Social Policy is preparing changes to the procedure for assigning housing subsidies
The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine plans to amend the procedure for receiving housing subsidies. According to these changes, Ukrainians will be able to independently provide information about utility services to receive state assistance. This was reported by Irina An, head of the civil law and process practice at the law firm 'Prykhodko and Partners'. According to her, these changes will allow consumers to additionally inform about utility services and housing maintenance expenses when they apply for a subsidy that is not taken into account by the Pension Fund.
The need for these changes arose because not all homeowners' associations and utility providers provide the relevant information to the Pension Fund. As a result, the fund cannot calculate subsidies for these services.
The proposed changes allow for the possibility of recalculating subsidies for the previous period in two ways: automatically, if the homeowners' association provides information independently, or upon the consumer's request with the relevant payment documents.
To obtain the necessary documents, consumers can contact the head of the homeowners' association or the building manager in writing. In case of refusal, one can appeal to the local council or to the court.
It is expected that the new rules will help reduce the financial burden on households and decrease the number of debts for utility services.
