Supermarkets vs Markets: Where is it Cheaper to Buy Potatoes, Carrots, and Onions Now.

Ukrainians are stocking up on vegetables like potatoes, onions, and carrots for winter. Therefore, prices on these items are of particular interest during the fall season.

"Khvylia" conducted a price comparison of these vegetables at the "Stolichny" market and in Ukrainian supermarkets.

Potatoes, which are one of the staple products of Ukrainian households, have a wide range of prices. In supermarkets, their cost ranges from 24.80 to 29.90 hryvnias per kilogram, with an average price of 26.87 UAH. At the market, potatoes can be bought cheaper - from 19 to 25 hryvnias.

Onions in supermarkets cost between 13.99 and 18.90 hryvnias per kilogram, with an average price of 15.72 UAH. Market prices for onions range from 13 to 17 hryvnias, which almost matches the prices in stores.

Carrots in retail chains cost from 18.90 to 22.90 hryvnias per kilogram, with an average price of 20.49 UAH. At the market, carrots can be found in the range of 17-19 hryvnias.

Thus, the general trend shows that market prices for vegetables are somewhat lower than in supermarkets. However, the difference is not always significant, and buyers should consider not only the price but also the convenience and quality of the products when choosing where to buy.
