Suzuki completely changed the concept of the Across crossover: what the new model offers.
According to Korrespondent.net: Suzuki made an unexpected move, radically changing the concept of the Across crossover. Previously, this brand sold a model based on the Toyota RAV4 in the European market, but now a new version has debuted in the Seychelles, which is an updated interpretation of the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, introduced in India this September.
Exterior and Features
The appearance of the new Across closely resembles the Victoris, with differences solely in the badges on the trunk lid. The key change in the interior is the placement of the steering wheel, as the Seychelles version is adapted for left-hand traffic. This move fits into Suzuki's global plans, which aim to introduce the Indian model to international markets.

Dimensions and Engines
The new Across is significantly more compact than the previous version based on the RAV4. The crossover measures 4360 mm in length, with a wheelbase of 2600 mm, while the 'old' Across was 4635 mm long with a greater distance between axles. The new model is built on the proprietary Heartect platform, which Suzuki actively uses in its developments.
The crossover is currently available with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine producing 102 hp. Buyers can choose between a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission, with the automatic also available with all-wheel drive. The presence of Hybrid badges in official images indicates the possibility of a hybrid version similar to the Indian model. In this case, the gasoline engine operates in conjunction with an electric motor, providing a combined output of 114 hp, while the AllGrip Select system handles all-wheel drive.
Sales Prospects
Although Suzuki has not yet confirmed plans to sell the new Across in Europe or the UK, the company has already announced the export of the Victoris to over 100 countries worldwide. This increases the likelihood of a European version with a hybrid option, possibly under a different name. In this case, the model could become a more affordable alternative to mainstream crossovers and fill the niche where the previous Across based on Toyota failed to gain popularity.
It is worth noting that earlier reports highlighted the most popular new gasoline cars in Ukraine.

Thus, the new Suzuki Across, embodying Indian solutions in a unique format, has every chance of becoming popular not only in local but also in international markets. At the same time, the demand for affordable and functional vehicles in the crossover segment remains high, giving the new model even more chances for success.
