Ukraine has experienced a historical event - the new head of government is Yuliya Svyrydenko. She is the first woman in 15 years to hold the position of Prime Minister. Prior to this, she served as the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy. Her appointment came after the resignation of the previous Prime Minister and shocked society.
The residents of Lviv shared their expectations from the new government. Many hope for a revision of priorities, in particular for economic growth, decent salaries, pension reform, steps towards Eurointegration, and support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
What is expected from the new government in Lviv
“There are probably many things that need changing. The economy of Ukraine itself and the overall perception of the world, people are very tired of the war and so on. Probably, the Prime Minister should change something in her own way, in a feminine way. Formulating various laws, it will be necessary to make new discoveries, conduct research”, - says one woman.
“Honestly, I don’t really believe that anything will change, it’s just a replacement”, - shares the thoughts of another Lviv resident.
“First of all, teachers' and doctors' salaries need to be raised”, - adds a man.
“More money is needed for the army. But most of all, we want peace, we want Ukraine to become more European. We want this - and support Eurointegration”, - emphasizes another woman.
Priorities of the new Prime Minister
- Increasing domestic arms production, procurement of drones, enhancing defense capability, and self-sufficiency of the state.
- Deregulation, reducing bureaucracy, cutting costs on non-critical tasks, protecting business, and investing in key economic clusters (energy, IT, agriculture, machine engineering, construction).
- Focus on social support - veterans, internally displaced persons, and hope for economic growth through reforms and budget transparency.
Let us remind you that a certain Ministry was previously liquidated, as well as that there will not be business checks in Ukraine.
