Global rice prices are experiencing slight increases
According to industry experts, despite the recent decline in rice prices, market recovery this year is unlikely due to huge supplies in India and other Asian exporting countries. After prices crashed in April due to the lifting of export restrictions in Delhi, prices for parboiled rice decreased to a two-year low. In Thailand and Vietnam, prices have also dropped to their lowest level in the last three years and nearly five years, respectively.
It is forecasted that rice prices will remain stable at current levels until the end of the year, as there is a large surplus of supply from all major exporting countries. FAO agency forecasts show that global rice production will rise to a record 543.6 million tons in the upcoming season.
