Defective Tesco App: Customers Unable to Order Products This Morning.
Issues with the Tesco App
According to The Sun: Customers of Tesco are reporting difficulties accessing the mobile shopping app. They express dissatisfaction about not being able to redeem their vouchers or order products.
Tesco customers reported issues with online orders through the app this morningGettyMore than 1,000 complaints were logged on Downdetector. The main issues are related to the app, although some users also experienced difficulties with the website.
One buyer wrote on X:
“@Tesco desperately need to add shopping to my nans order and the app and web is down. She’ll blame me if it’s not added. Help!”
Another added:
“@Tesco app not working and online grocery site not working. Can’t spend my money!”
A third commented:
“@Tesco your app and online services are not letting me order a shop online or access any information, is there an issue?”
It is noted that this problem did not affect all customers, as others were able to use the website and app without issues.
The number of complaints on Downdetector peaked before 9 AM but decreased by 9:30 AM.
A Tesco representative stated:
“We’ve fixed a technical issue that very briefly affected our app and website earlier this morning. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
Problems with Online Shopping
Customers also reported similar difficulties with online orders in April. At that time, over 500 complaints were registered on Downdetector. Users actively expressed their dissatisfaction on social media as they were logged out from the website during the ordering process.
These difficulties occurred against the backdrop of news about the potential closure of over 100 supermarkets, including Tesco, due to planned business tax increases. The same applies to Sainsbury's and Morrisons, which might lose parts of their large stores.
According to analysts, about 50 of the 600 Sainsbury's supermarkets will become unprofitable due to rising operational costs. The same goes for several Tesco branches and 30 of the 500 Morrisons stores.
Can Compensation for Disruptions Be Obtained?
Unlike basic services like communication, supermarkets' websites do not have clear compensation schemes for IT problems.
However, if you have incurred costs or inconveniences due to the inaccessibility of your account or delivery information, you should contact Tesco for assistance.
It is recommended to gather all necessary documents, such as the delivery receipt, and reach out to Tesco's customer service team to discuss your situation.
For questions regarding online orders, you can call Tesco at 0800 323 4040. Calls from landlines and mobile phones are free.
How to Save Money at Tesco
Every little saving matters when shopping at Tesco.
The head of the consumer sector at The Sun, Tara Evans, explains how to save money at Britain's largest supermarket.
Clubcard Points
Tesco introduced its loyalty program back in 1995. You earn one point for every pound spent in-store. When you redeem points in-store, 100 points equate to £1. You can use your points through the program's partners and receive triple, sometimes even quadruple, the rewards.
Extending Clubcard Points
You can find lost points and unused vouchers from the last two years on Tesco's Clubcard website.
Clubcard Prices
Without a Clubcard, you cannot benefit from lower prices. Don’t forget to check prices before purchasing, as they may be higher compared to other stores, especially for large packages like detergent and toilet paper.
Yellow Labels
The timing for price reductions on products with yellow labels varies, but Tesco often reduces prices from 7 PM to 9 PM.
Saving Money While Shopping Online
If you're ordering products from Tesco, consider purchasing a delivery saver. If you live near Tesco, you can get your order for just 25 pence, which may be cheaper than standard delivery.
Tesco customers are facing serious issues using the app, further emphasizing the need for continuous monitoring of supermarket online services. These problems are not new, and it seems the company needs to focus on improving its electronic platforms to avoid similar incidents in the future. At the same time, the potential closure of some supermarkets due to economic reasons could lead to even more strain among consumers and necessitate the search for alternative shopping options.Read also
