New life for Privet Drive

According to The Sun: A cozy street in a quiet suburb is soon going to transform into a recognizable place — Privet Drive. Over the past few months, Springfield Gardens in the suburb of Upminster has undergone a wonderful transformation, becoming home to the Dursleys and the setting where the story of Harry Potter took place.

For the filming of the new TV series, the production team has settled in Upminster to portray the image of Harry Potter's first home. Previously, Privet Drive was located on a street in Bracknell, on the other side of London.

Convenient place for visitors

Springfield Gardens is situated in Upminster, which is part of the Havering borough of London. It has a convenient transport connection with central London, as this is the last station on the District Line. The journey to central London takes 45 minutes by subway, while by train c2c to Fenchurch Street, it takes just over 30 minutes.

In addition to the street becoming popular among fans for photos by the magical house, Upminster is also famous for its windmill, a Grade II listed building. The windmill was built in the early 1800s and is open to visitors on certain days of the year.

No less interesting is the Upminster Tithe Barn, which houses the Nostalgia Museum with over 14,500 exhibits, including vintage toys, games, and household appliances.

Family fun for everyone

Upminster offers a variety of entertainment for families. For example, the Partyman Upminster soft play center is suitable for children aged six months to 13 years, with entry costing between £2.25 and £6. Another popular place is Stubbers Adventure Centre, which received the Traveller’s Choice award this year. Here, children can enjoy kayaking, climbing, paintballing, and other activities.

For those interested in filming locations, scenes from the series have already been filmed on London’s Borough High Street, which was transformed into the magical Diagon Alley. Family photos of the Weasleys were also taken at King’s Cross station, where actress Katherine Parkinson filmed.

The HBO series about Harry Potter will be released in 2027, featuring Annabella Stenton, Dominic MacLoughlin, and Alistair Stutt in the main cast.
