Oualidia Village - a serene getaway in Morocco

According to The Sun: Forget about Marrakech: nearby there is a village by the shore that boasts the same bright sunny sky but has a completely different atmosphere.

Oualidia is located about two hours drive from Casablanca, but often goes unnoticed by tourists.

The village is famous for its number of sunny days - up to 320 per year, and the temperature in October can reach 27°C.

Oualidia is known not only for its oysters but also for its pink flamingos, yet it remains under the radar of mass tourists.

The National Geographic magazine notes: “The town is a maze of quiet streets leading to seaside cafes and beach surf shacks where you can rent boards.”

The village is perched above a picturesque tidal lagoon, making it a safe spot for family vacations with children.

Oualidia is the first royal beach of Morocco, approved by King Mohammed V in the 1940s.

Although the palace has long gone due to wear and tear, there is one luxurious hotel in the village - La Sultana Oualidia.

This hotel is a sister establishment of the famous La Sultana in Marrakech and has only 12 rooms, including 'pirate' and 'in the tree'.

Guests can enjoy an outdoor heated pool and a new restaurant on site.

But be prepared for the costs: room rates start from 575 pounds per night.

Among the celebrities who have visited this hotel were Canadian actress Shay Mitchell and Ben Fogle.

You can reach Oualidia by taking a three-week flight to Casablanca with Royal Air Maroc.

Alternatively, you can fly to Marrakech with Ryanair, and from there it's about three hours by car to Oualidia.

Morocco offers wonderful seaside towns that are accessible and warm in the fall.

Agadir made it to the list of the most popular destinations in the British Airways travel trends report for 2025.

It's the largest resort on the coast with plenty of beaches, 300 days of sunshine a year, and winter temperatures of up to 25°C.

Additionally, other vacation spots can include El Jadida and even the capital Rabat.
