Ukrainians are offered to earn money during Sober October: how giving up alcohol can boost your budget

According to The Sun: Sober October has already begun — it's a great opportunity to take care of your health and save some money.

The average household spends about £800 a year on alcohol, so abstaining for a month can return around £65 to your budget.

At the same time, you can join the 'Sober October' challenge from Macmillan Cancer Support and raise funds for charity.

Here are some ideas on how to spend this month alcohol-free:

Plan your alcohol abstention

Think about the reasons why you decided to give up alcohol for a month: it could be a desire to save money, improve your health, or support charity.

Decide what you will drink instead of your usual beverages.

Create a list of the money saved and spend it on something nice after completing the challenge.

Record your experiences throughout the month: note improvements in sleep or willpower.

Add another useful habit, such as light exercise, to boost your motivation.

Tasty non-alcoholic cocktails

To compensate for the absence of alcohol, try making your own non-alcoholic cocktails.

For a delicious autumn drink for four servings, mix 500 ml of apple juice, 250 ml of ginger beer, a cinnamon stick, two cloves, a pinch of ginger, and half a slice of orange in a saucepan.

Heat on low and simmer for about five minutes, then add a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup.

For a festive version for one person, fill a glass halfway with cranberry juice and a squeeze of lime, then top with non-alcoholic sparkling wine.

Garnish with berries.
