Week under fire: Zelensky spoke about the scale of Russian attacks.
Zelensky: Russia launched large-scale air attacks on Ukraine
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported significant airstrikes by the Russian Federation over the past week. He noted that the Russian troops conducted many strikes on both the cities and villages of Ukraine, as well as on the positions of Ukrainian defenders on the front line.
'Almost 700 aerial bombs and over 600 strike drones - and this is just in one week,' the president emphasized, highlighting the focus of enemy attacks.
Zelensky noted that the conduct of military operations by Russia largely depends on the adversary's air superiority and the ability to carry out terrorist acts. He also emphasized that previous agreements on Ukraine's air defense, reached at the NATO summit in Washington and during meetings in the 'Ramstein' format, have not yet been fully implemented.
In the context of strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities, Zelensky spoke about negotiations with the United States regarding licenses for the production of air defense systems and missiles for them. 'This is quite feasible and will only strengthen our joint efforts to ensure security,' the president emphasized.
He also noted that a powerful air defense is a key element in forcing the aggressor to peace, as Russia prefers to continue the war. A sufficient number and quality of air defense systems play an important role in the strategy to achieve lasting peace in the region.
Earlier, Zelensky made an important statement regarding armaments.
