Trump's disillusionment with Putin: The US expects peace in Ukraine within six months.
According to FREEДOM:
Expectations for peace in Ukraine
The Biden administration believes that peace in Ukraine could be achieved within six months. Donald Trump, frustrated with the actions of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, hopes for a swift end to the war. However, American society is pressuring the president to respond to the negative attitude towards Russia in the US. This was reported by political analyst and international commentator for The Breakfast Show, Aleksandra Filippenko, during an interview on the FREEДОМ channel.
Public opinion
In her opinion, polls in the US indicate a low level of support for Trump's policy towards Russia.
'The New York Times reports that 54% of Americans believe Trump is too close to Russia; 45% do not support his actions regarding Russia's war with Ukraine, while 35% do support them. Moreover, 68% of Americans want the war to end without Russian control over Ukrainian territory,' Filippenko noted.
Filippenko also added that Trump is aware of the poll results, but real progress in negotiations is needed to change public opinion.
Pressure on China
'JD Vance is trying to emphasize that there is movement, that there are tools of pressure, that sanctions are not off the agenda, but they will be applied in each specific case. He cited the example of tariffs against India — 25% on Indian goods related to the purchase of Russian oil,' the political analyst added.
In her view, the US does not plan to impose serious tariffs against China.
'China buys Russian natural resources, and China sells everything possible to Russia as European markets are closed. However, it seems that there will be no pressure on China. Discussions on this issue will continue in each specific case,' Filippenko concluded.
Serious consequences for Russia
In conclusion, Trump emphasized that if Russia refuses to sign a peace agreement with Ukraine, the consequences for it will be very serious.
The situation surrounding the war in Ukraine remains complex, and the results of polls indicate how important American opinion is for the policy of the Trump administration. Discussions on options to pressure Russia, as well as the prospects for peace negotiations, will continue to remain in focus, as the Ukrainian situation directly affects international relations.
