Zelenskyy on the Next Stage of the Crimea Crisis: Strikes Targeting Occupiers' Logistics and Power Grids.
President Zelenskyy's Address on Crimea Tatar Flag Day
According to Espreso.tv: On the occasion of Crimea Tatar Flag Day, Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered a speech underscoring Ukraine's ongoing fight for Crimea and the pursuit of justice for the Crimea Tatar people. In his remarks, he highlighted a new phase in the Crimea crisis triggered by attacks on the occupiers' supply chains and energy infrastructure, pointing out that Russia brought war to the peninsula.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine has never stopped fighting for Crimea.
“Today, no one on Earth can claim we are not fighting for Crimea or that we have forgotten about it,”he stated. The president also called for fresh pressure tactics against Russia, including so-called medium-range sanctions.
“Now, through our efforts—medium-range sanctions against the Russian occupier, our long-range sanctions plan, and all other forms of pressure on the aggressor—we are doing everything to force Russia to end the war and restore justice,”Zelenskyy added.
Growing Crises in Crimea
A fresh wave of turmoil has recently swept across Crimea. This includes:
- a halt in fuel sales to civilians;
- rolling blackouts;
- water supply disruptions;
- a mass exodus of residents from the peninsula.
As a result, long queues have formed at the Kerch Bridge, reflecting the region's dire conditions.
“Justice for Ukraine will also mean justice for the Crimea Tatar people,”the president said, stressing the need to uphold the rights of the Crimea Tatar community. Honoring the blue flag bearing a golden tamga has become a symbol of struggle and unity, bringing together all Crimea Tatars.
“Today, as we honor the blue flag with the golden tamga—this proud banner that unites the entire Crimea Tatar people—we affirm that Ukraine is fighting for itself and for all its lands,”Zelenskyy emphasized, urging continued efforts to restore justice.
Zelenskyy's address on Crimea Tatar Flag Day underscores the enduring and significant nature of Ukraine's struggle for Crimea, as well as the need for international support to apply pressure on Russia. The ongoing issues in Crimea, including an energy crisis and social hardships, may signal an escalation that demands urgent action from Ukraine and its allies.
